About the project
I designed this door status tracker over the summer of 2026, entirely in Onshape, as a single assembly of 11 individual parts. I toleranced each part so the pieces fit and hold together without any glue. A base plate reads “HERE” on one half and “AWAY” on the other, and a hinged panel attached on top flips up or down to show whichever side applies. Each side has four statuses: Sleeping, Working, Home, and Relaxing when I’m here, and Gym, Rugby, Class, and Out when I’m away. A sliding arrow points to my current status, and a small flip sign switches between “Come In!” and “Do Not Disturb.” For away mode, hooks at the ends of the hinge click the panel into place so it holds its position instead of falling flat.
Heres how it works!

This dragon is powered by three servos and some simple drag and drop block code! It was designed by me in middle school at The Athenian School summer enrichment camp
